Mily Biswas is working as Additional Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police for its Traffic Division. Before that she worked as Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police in Dhaka range which covers 17 districts of Dhaka Division. She joined the Bangladesh Police Service as Assistant Superintendent of Police through Bangladesh Civil Service examination (BCS) in 1988. Mily Biswas has vast experience in the United Nations Mission as the Staff Officer to the Commissioner, Instructor of Police College in Dili and Officer-in-Charge of Vulnerable Persons Unit to develop a multi-sectoral prevention and response to sexual and gender based violence in East Timor. She also worked with local NGOs as CIVPOL member in Dili for victim support together with serious crime Investigation Unit in Dili Hospital, East Timor. She was the first female police officer to join UN Peace Keeping Mission to Dili, East Timor and commanded Bangladesh Police Force as Contingent Commander in 2000. The recent deployment of a full contingent of women police to the UN Peace Keeping Force follows Mily Biswas who is a pioneer in this arena.
