LEAHN Co-ordinator Greg Denham collaborates with Vietnam’s Police and UNODC for harm reduction training

 

The LEAHN Coordinator Greg Denham has travelled to Hai Phong Province in Vietnam to participate in the UNODC sponsored training program: ‘Training for Law Enforcement Officers on HIV Provision for People Who Inject Drugs’ conducted on 15, 16, 17 Sept.

The training aims:

  • To develop the knowledge and competence of the police so that they can best support national and local responses to HIV/AIDS;
  • To ensure that all police officers can make well informed decisions to protect themselves from HIV;and,
  • To enhance collaboration between police forces and community-based organisations in responding to HIV.

Greg is delivering several Modules from the UNODC Training Package, with other Modules delivered by police and Ms Zhannat Kosmukhamedova from UNODC Vienna. Forty five police from provinces in Vietnam most affected by HIV participated in the training.
